Abstract

The purpose of this service activity is to improve the Computational Thinking (CT) skills of vocational students through the Bebras Challenge training program. Since its introduction by Wing in 2006, CT has become a major focus in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education. In the context of this service activity, some of the problems identified involved students' lack of proficiency in CT, ignorance of Bebras Challenge activities, and lack of promotion of the use of the internet in CT learning. This training was carried out by applying lecture methods, question and answer sessions, and exercises/practices. The results of the implementation of this service activity show that students can apply Computational Thinking to solve everyday problems. This service method proved effective in motivating students and teachers to actively use technology as a CT learning tool. In addition, this training helps students to better understand the types of challenges faced in Bebras and the concept of CT.

Abstract

This program proposes and evaluates the implementation of a training programme titled "Improving Students' Front End Competencies by focusing on HTML and CSS" to prepare students' web programming competencies. A preliminary study was conducted to analyse students' initial HTML and CSS competency levels which will provide the basis for designing an appropriate training programme. The implementation of the programme was carried out in accordance with the plan and schedule that had been set. Evaluation was conducted through monitoring participants' participation and their responses during the socialisation activities.  The results of this study are expected to provide insight into the effectiveness of a programme to improve HTML and CSS skills in building front end websites. The conclusion of this research can provide a basis for the development of students' web programming front end competence in HTML and CSS.

Abstract

Tujuan pengabdian ini membahas tentang upaya peningkatan kapasitas guru dalam menulis artikel ilmiah dengan memanfaatkan Artificial Intelligence (AI). Melalui pendekatan Action Research, para guru terlibat langsung dalam proses perbaikan dan pengembangan kemampuan mereka dalam literasi digital dan teknik penulisan artikel ilmiah. Tahapan pengabdian kepada masyarakat melibatkan langkah-langkah sistematis untuk mencapai tujuan peningkatan kemampuan guru dalam memanfaatkan AI. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan peningkatan kemampuan guru dalam menulis artikel ilmiah, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas publikasi ilmiah mereka. Dengan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang AI, guru diharapkan dapat mengintegrasikan teknologi ini secara efektif dalam pembelajaran, menciptakan lingkungan pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif dan adaptif. Kesimpulannya, pengabdian ini memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam meningkatkan literasi digital dan kemampuan menulis artikel ilmiah guru, serta memberikan landasan untuk pengembangan kegiatan pengabdian di masa mendatang.

Abstract

Program ini mengusulkan dan mengevaluasi implementasi pelatihan berjudul "Peningkatan Kompetensi Back End Web Programming: Pelatihan JavaScript untuk Mahasiswa" dengan tujuan mempersiapkan mahasiswa dalam kompetensi pemrograman web di bidang back end. Dilakukan studi pendahuluan untuk menganalisis tingkat kompetensi awal mahasiswa dalam JavaScript, yang menjadi dasar dalam merancang program pelatihan yang sesuai. Pelaksanaan program dilakukan sesuai rencana dan jadwal yang telah ditetapkan, sementara evaluasi dilakukan dengan memantau partisipasi peserta dan respons mereka selama kegiatan sosialisasi. Diharapkan hasil penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman tentang efektivitas program dalam meningkatkan kemampuan JavaScript untuk pengembangan back end website. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan landasan untuk pengembangan kompetensi pemrograman web mahasiswa khususnya dalam penggunaan JavaScript untuk pengembangan back end.

Abstract

The urgency of using AI in the educational environment as a medium for optimizing student learning personalization in synchronous and asynchronous learning needs to be done to ensure that students experience improved attitudes, motivation, and learning satisfaction, which is reflected in student competencies. This study aimed to investigate the impact of ChatGPT use frequency on students' attitudes, satisfaction levels, and competence in higher education learning goals. The type of research employed was non-experimental quantitative research, specifically ex-post facto research. The sample size was 257 people, which was determined using the criteria of Issac and Michael (1971) and sampling distribution with a proportional random sampling technique. Data collection techniques that utilize questionnaires are effective in obtaining quantitative data. The PLS SEM analysis was used to determine the effect of exogenous latent variables on endogenous latent variables. The study revealed that reliability and satisfaction with ChatGPT positively impact learning outcomes, while the perceived impact on competence does not significantly enhance learning objectives. Increased usage frequency moderates these effects, diminishing the positive influence of perceptions, reliability, and satisfaction and shifting the impact on competence to negative and insignificant. These findings highlight the complexity of integrating ChatGPT into education, suggesting that initial positive perceptions may not be sustained with frequent use.

Abstract

The problems identified are the level of digital literacy that needs to be improved and the need for an understanding of AI ethics among teachers, which can hinder the education process in the digital era. The purpose of this service is to improve the digital competence and understanding of AI ethics of teachers, so that they can be more effective in teaching and guiding students towards responsible use of technology. Through an Action Research approach, the teachers were directly involved in the process of improving and developing their skills in digital literacy and scientific article writing. The methods used in this training involved lectures, discussions, and practical exercises using various interactive media such as Quizziz, videos, infographics, and educational games. The training was attended by 35 teachers on 4 March 2024. The results of the training showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge and skills related to digital literacy and AI ethics. In addition, there was a positive shift in attitudes towards the use of digital technology. The implication of the training results is the improvement of education quality in the participating schools, as more digitally literate teachers can be more effective in integrating technology in the learning process. In addition, these teachers can act as agents of change in society, helping to build a community of smart and responsible digital technology users. Abstrak Masalah yang diidentifikasi adalah tingkat literasi digital yang perlu ditingkatkan dan perlunya pemahaman etika AI di kalangan guru, yang dapat menghambat proses pendidikan di era digital. Tujuan Pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kompetensi digital dan pemahaman etika AI para guru, sehingga mereka dapat lebih efektif dalam mengajar dan membimbing siswa menuju penggunaan teknologi yang bertanggung jawab. Melalui pendekatan Action Research, para guru terlibat secara langsung dalam proses peningkatan dan pengembangan kemampuan mereka dalam literasi digital dan penulisan artikel ilmiah. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelatihan ini melibatkan ceramah, diskusi, dan latihan praktis dengan menggunakan berbagai media interaktif seperti Quizziz, video, infografis, dan permainan edukatif. Pelatihan ini diikuti oleh 35 guru pada tanggal 4 Maret 2024. Hasil dari pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta terkait literasi digital dan etika AI. Selain itu, terdapat pergeseran sikap yang positif terhadap penggunaan teknologi digital. Implikasi dari hasil pelatihan ini adalah peningkatan kualitas pendidikan di sekolah-sekolah peserta, karena guru yang lebih melek digital dapat lebih efektif dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi dalam proses pembelajaran. Selain itu, guru-guru ini dapat berperan sebagai agen perubahan dalam masyarakat, membantu membangun komunitas pengguna teknologi digital yang cerdas dan bertanggung jawab.

Abstract

This paper presents a hardware inference accelerator architecture of quantized deep neural networks (DNN). The proposed accelerator implements all computation in a quantize version of DNN including linear transformations like matrix multiplications, nonlinear activation functions such as ReLU, quantization and dequantization operation. The hardware accelerator of quantized DNN consists of matrix multiplication core which is implemented in systolic array architecture, and the QDR core for computing the operation of quantization, dequantization, and ReLU. This proposed hardware architecture is implemented in Verilog Hardware Description Language (HDL) code using modelsim. To validate, we simulated the quantized DNN using Python programming language and compared the results with our proposed hardware accelerator. The result of this comparison shows a very slight difference, confirming the validity of our quantized DNN hardware accelerator.

Abstract

Dengan merebaknya virus Covid-19 di dunia, mendatangkan dampak yang fundamental terhadap psikologis manusia, khususnya dibidang pendidikan. Sistem pembelajaran dirombak agar dapat disesuaikan dengan tuntutan yang ada, salah satunya dalam proses pembelajaran. Proses pembelajaran yang sebelumnya dilaksanakan secara tatap muka (synchronous) menjadi dominan dilaksanakan secara daring (asynchronous) atau bahkan dilaksanakan secara campuran (blended learning). Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh blended learning terhadap perkembangan kognitif mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode penelitian deskriptif. Populasi yang digunakan pada penelitian ini sebanyak 108 Mahasiswa Universitas Negeri Makassar. Data diperoleh dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa penyebaran kuesioner melalui platform Google Form. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan Skala Likert dengan tujuan untuk memberikan skor dalam bentuk skala pada setiap pernyataan dalam kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode blended learning memiliki pengaruh yang baik terhadap perkembangan kognitif mahasiswa.

Abstract

Convolution neural networks (CNN) have been widely applied for the computer vision task. However, the success of CNN is limited by the computational complexity of the network, so it is difficult for the model to run the inference process in real time. In this paper, we apply Strassen matrix multiplication to reduce multiplications in convolution operations in CNN, in order to get faster execution for CNN. First, we transform the convolution operation into a matrix multiplication operation using the Toeplitz mapping method, then after that, we apply the Strassen method to these matrices. In the end, we compare the number of arithmetic operations (multiplication and addition) in the convolutional layer using Strassen and the standard algorithm. We apply this algorithm implementation in convolution layers 1 and 3 in LeNet-5 Architecture.

Abstract

The use of technology in Mathematics learning is crucial because it can provide convenience for the learning process. This research is a qualitative study that aims to describe how Mathematics teachers use existing technology or applications in Mathematics learning during the new normal. The participants were three high school Mathematics teachers who utilized technology in their learning. The analysis technique used refers to a three-stage analysis technique which includes data condensation, data display, and conclusion. The results showed that the use of applications available in Mathematics learning varied. Some utilized and maximized various kinds of application features, but some only took advantage of a few main features. There were teachers whose learning activities did not involve too much technology integration and there were also those that involved the use of various applications, even those specifically designed to learn mathematical concepts. The purposes of using applications that can help the teaching and learning process were very diverse. The use almost involves all activities in all teaching and learning processes such as creating, providing, and teaching the teaching materials, assessment, discussion, assignment, and announcements and reminders.
