Abstract

Tercapainya sikap ilmiah menunjukkan salah satu indikator keefektifan pembelajaran sains.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the increase in science cognitive of students using snake ladder media. This study is quantitative research design by applying Pre-test – Post-test Control Group Design. The initial stage in the experimental class treated using snake ladder media, whereas, the control class treated by simple experiment. The subjects of the study were 65 Elementary school students who were participated in the implementation of this study with the population of Gugus Pattimura in Mejobo, Kudus. The data collection technique was using the learning outcomes test techniques with multiple choice type questions. The data analysis technique applied was quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of this study indicated that there is an increase in the acquisition of science cognitive of students using snakes ladders media. The average pre-test scores were 60, meanwhile, the average post-test scores 72. The gain score of the pre-test and post-test data is 0.3 in moderate criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of snakes ladders media can income students science cognitive.

Abstract

According to observations and interviews conducted towards fourth grade students of Elementary School 2 Sendangmulyo, the researcher found that students’ understanding of concepts and self-reliance were low. Purpose of this study were to identify the effectiveness of manipulative props (APM) on jigsaw technique in learning process; to improve students’ understanding of mathematical concepts; and toanalyse students’ self-reliance in Mathematics learning by implementing manipulative props on jigsaw technique observed from their ability in understanding the concepts. This study used mixed method by applying concurrent embedded research design. As a result, implementing manipulative props on jigsaw technique in learning process could improve the students’ understanding of mathematical concepts. It could be seen from the average number improvement of students’ understanding of mathematical concepts of 30.44 so that there were 92% of students improved their understanding of concepts after the technique was implemented. According to the students’ self-reliance category, students who have high understanding of concepts was showed to be in high category, students who have moderate understanding of concepts was indicated to be in medium-high category, while students who have low understanding of concepts was proven to be in medium-low category.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are to analyze the need to develop supplementary book of writing skills for beginner with local wisdom content for second grade elementary school students, develop an supplementary book products, and test the effectiveness of supplementary book products. This research used a research and development method with seven steps, they are a preliminary study, analysis of development needs, initial product development, product validation and product revision, small-scale trials and product revisions, wide-scale trials and product improvement, final products. Research data were collected through a needs questionnaire, validation sheets, pre-test and post-test questions, and response questionnaires. The results of the research show that supplementary writing books are needed in the process of learning of writing for beginner. The results of the validation of the supplementary book are 74.69% with a valid category and the learning outcomes of the aspects of knowledge and skills improve with the score of n-gain 0.63 in the aspects of knowledge and 0.57 in the aspects of skills. Based on the results of the validation and effectiveness test the effective supplementary book is used as a complement book in the learning process.

Abstract

The ability of scientific literacy and critical thinking are very important possessed by student. Many researchers suggested that Problem Based Learning (PBL) could enhance the students’ scientific literacy and critical thinking. The use of digital storytelling media is believed to help motivate students to focus more and joyfull on learning. Therefore the study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of PBL assisted by digital storytelling media to improve the scientific literacy and critical thinking skills of fifth graders of elementary school students. This study used a mixed-methods with explanatory sequential design. Research data were collected through written tests, questionnaires, and interviews. Classical completeness tests, N-gain test, and independent sample t-test were used to test the effectiveness of the treatment. The results of triangulation analysis of the questionnaire, observation, and interview data shown that PBL learning models assisted by digital storytelling media are effective in improving students’ science literacy and critical thinking skills. The digital storytelling media has helped students to understand the context, are more motivated to learn, and could facilitated students to be more critical and literate in understanding problems.
