Abstract

ABSTRACT The highest incidence of dengue in Semarang City is in Sendangmulyo Village. One risk factor for DHF is a high vector density. To support the success of efforts to eradicate the vector, dengue entomology surveys is a must by using House Index (HI), Container Index (CI), and Breteau Index (BI). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship larvae density with the incidence of dengue in the Sendangmulyo Village through a spatial approach. This type of research is a descriptive survey research using a study design with the ecological approach to spatial correlation. The research sample consists of 435 homes drawn using systematic random sampling techniques, and purposive sampling. The survey carried out by visual larvae. Point coordinates found DHF cases as many as 327 cases. Statistical analysis was performed with the Pearson-Product Moment correlation and analysis of spatially Weighted Regression with GeoDa. The results showed that the HI value of 33.79%, CI of 15.77%, and BI of 57.93%. In addition, dengue cases were equally distributed in the region Sendangmulyo Village. Statistical test showed that there was no significant relationship between the HI, CI, BI and DHF cases. From this study, it can be concluded that this index of larvae do not have a meaningful relationship with the incidence of dengue in the Sendangmulyo Village. Key words: density of larvae, DBD, spatial Kesmasindo. Volume 5( 1) Januari 2012, hlm. 52-64

Abstract

Although Indonesia has long history fighting corruption since its independence, however the fighting has not given positive resulted yet. The corruption cases is increasing from one rezim to another, even after reformation era which put its based movement toward fighting corruption. This phenomena drive many Indonesian people, experts, and scholars to evaluate the essence of fighting such bad behaviour either from culture, legal, and education perspective. Scholars suggested that the effective way of fighting the corruption is in preventive scheme rather in represive one. In this sense, it is education that could give great impact to build anti corruption character. The challenge in formulating such system in higher education not only due to the material or the subject given to the students, but also the method that need different approach to make sure that the needed character has been developed well.

Abstract

The incidence of COVID-19 in Indonesia is significantly increasing. In Indonesia, there were 965.283 confirmed cases and 27.453 people died of covid as of January 22, 2021. Meanwhile, the 7.505 confirmed cases and 352 death were from Surakarta. In this pandemic situation, the community must protect itself from being infected by the virus. Prevention is done by implementating the 5M health protocol, which are wearing mask, social distancing, and hand washing. Those health protocols are also part of clean and healthy lifestyle (PHBS). Special needs children (ABK) are those who have different characteristics than any other common children. Special health consideration should be given for those special needs child, including PHBS because of the special needs they are having and probable difficulties into implementing PHBS. The consideration can be given by their teacher, caretaker, parents, or trained social health workers in the hope of special needs children become independent into implementing the PHBS. The aim of this program is implementating social service program and helping special needs children to become independent in implementating PHBS and health protocol. The program was held by lecturing, demonstration, simulation, and supervised practice. This program hopefully will prevent either health issues or prevent the spreading of infective disease, specifically in this pandemic situation.

Abstract

Measles rubella (MR) is a highly contagious disease, rubella causes miscarriage or baby-ies born with congenital defects in the first trimester of pregnancy. The Ministry of Health recommends 95% of the population against rubella measles through the Measles Rubella Immunization Program. However, there is still MR immunization coverage below 95%, in the Magelang City. Public Health Center has coverage of MR was 83.56% and Magelang Selatan was 89.14%. The purpose of the study was to analyse the factors associated with rejection of MR immunization. Study design using cross sectional. 120 samples of parents from elementary, junior high school, and SLB were selected in Magelang Utara sub-district with simple random sampling. The variables that had a statistical- relationship with the status of immunization refusal of Measles Rubella (p < 0.05) were type of work, history of measles, level of knowledge, attitudes of student’s parent attitudes (p = 0,0001), perceived vulnerability (p = 0,0001), perceived severity (p = 0,0001), perceived benefits and barriers, environment support, family support, and school support. So that parents with poor knowledge have a 18.355 times greater chance of rejecting Measles rubella Immunization.

Abstract

Semarang, the capital city of Central Java Province, is one of the endemic areas in Indonesia with increasing case fatality rate in the last three years. Accordingly, the educational intervention is fundamentally requested. The aim of the study was to evaluate the influence of health education intervention on the community knowledge improvement and its implication for reducing the rat populations. The study was performed using field experiment with pretest and post test designs. A total of 55 cadres and housewives joining on the various education program at Sumurboto Village, Banyumanik Sub district, Semarang was used as research subjects. The health education interventions introduced in the study were counselling and mentoring. ,Data were analyzed using paired t-test. The results revealed that the knowledge of the subject research significantly increased and the rat populations significantly decreased after being given the educational intervention. The rat species identified in Sumurboto Village were Rattus norvegicus, R. tanezumi, R. exulans and Suncus murinus. The knowledge score before and after the intervention was 80.87 and 88.83 respectively. Meanwhile, the rat populations measured by trap success method reduced from 8% to 6% after the intervention. Nevertheless, the rat population in Sumurboto Village is considerably relative high indicating that the village possessed a high risk on leptospirosis attack. It is strongly suggested that the health education intervention in the community should be regularly maintained in order to accelerate the knowledge of leptospirosis and reduce the rat populations.

Abstract

Rats are widely distributed disease spreaders and settlement pests. Species of rats often found include Rattus norvegicus, R. tanezumi and Mus musculus. Phosphine as a fumigant is commonly used to control pests with no residue, especially related where there are placed the commercial products . The research objective was to determine effect of phosphine gas fumigant (hydrogen phosphide (PH3)) on rat death. The study sample was species of rats, i.e. M.musculus, R.tanezumi, and R.norvegicus. This study was used 4 dose variations (0, 4, 6 and 8 tablets) with 6 replications per unit treatment. Each treatment (dosis) needed 1 rat . The results of different test analyzed that significance value was 0.0001 (p=0.0001), indicating that there were differences in average time span of M. musculus, R. tanezumi and R. norvegicus death to treat of phosphine dose variations. Based on Probit analysis, the data showed that The fastest LT50 and LT99 were at a dose of 8 tablets for 90.5 and 114.9 minutes, and LT50 and LT99 were at the lowest dose of 4 tablets in 148.1 and 188.1 minutes, respectively. The higher dosage of phosphine was treated, the higher gas concentration was produced, so that it could kill M. musculus, R. tanezumi dan R. norvegicus quickly. The mortality might be generated by cell damages that occurred inside the body of rats.
