Abstract

Balinese is one of 718 local languages in Indonesia facing degradation since national and international language influences are getting stronger in the country. Bali is relatively in a better position than the others because it is supported by its speakers, the governmental laws and costumery laws, and by its own script. This article examines the form of local laws on Balinese language and its script, the implementation of the local laws on Balinese language and its script usage, and factors that determine unparallel law of language between the Balinese Provincial Government and the national government. Observation and questionnaires were applied in the data collection method, while descriptive-qualitative technique was used for the analysis. Both were guided by Language Engineering and Forensic Linguistics approaches. The article concludes that Balinese speakers and the Provincial Government work hand in hand to develop the language and its scripts

Abstract

The topic in this article is “Code mixing in Instagram TV “Haipuja”. The background of this research is, in the Instagram TV video "Haipuja" there is the use of code mixing in it, both the insertion of regional languages ??into the use of Indonesian and the insertion of foreign languages ??into the use of Indonesian. The research on code mixing on Instagram TV “Haipuja” has never been done before. In this study, there are three problems discussed, namely code mixing based on the origin of the absorption elements, code mixing at the linguistic level, and the factors causing code mixing. The purpose of this study is to determine the use of code mixing, as well as the factors that cause code mixing. Qualitative descriptive research is presented in the form of data descriptions. Data collection methods are supported by note-taking techniques and the results of data analysis are presented in an informal form. The results of this study were found code mixing based on the original absorption element, code mixing seen from the linguistic level, and the factors causing code mixing on Instagram TV “Haipuja”.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar penggunaan teknik bermain perandalam meningkatkan keterampilan siswa berbicara bahasa Inggris khususnya pada penggunaansimple past tense pada kelas X Akomodasi Perhotelan 4 di SMK Negeri 4 Denpasar. Teori-teoriyang digunakan sebagai landasan dalam penelitian ini yaitu teori tentang pengajaranketerampilan berbicara oleh Richard (2008) dan teori tentang pengajaran tata bahasa olehWilliams (2005). Sebelum dilaksanakan pembelajaran, tes awal diberikan untuk mengetahuikemampuan awal siswa sehingga nilai yang diperoleh dapat dibandingkan dengan siklusberikutnya setelah diberikan pembelajaran. Hasil dari data kuantitatif menunjukkan bahwapenggunaan teknik bermain peran dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggrissiswa di SMK Negeri 4 Denpasar. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil yang diperoleh oleh siswa padasaat diberikan tes dan terjadi peningkatan selama teknik bermain peran diterapkan. Aspek darikemampuan berbicara yang dijadikan tolok ukur pada penilitian ini yaitu, kosakata, pelafalan,tata bahasa, kelancaran, dan pemahaman.Kata kunci : Keterampilan berbicara, teknik bermain peran, simple past tenseABSTRACTThis research aimed at finding out how far the use of role play technique could help the students‟of SMK Negeri 4 Denpasar on grade X Hospitality Accommodation to improve their speakingability especially in using simple past tense. Some theoretical frameworks are used in thisresearch, such as the theory of teaching speaking by Richard (2008) and theory of teachinggrammar by Williams (2005). Before the treatment was carried, pre-test was conducted in orderto know the students‟ basic ability, so that the achievement can be compared with the next circlesafter the treatment was given. The result of quantitative data showed that the use of role playtechnique could improve the speaking ability of students of SMK Negeri 4 Denpasar. It can beseen from the result of the students‟ achievement tests which increased continuously during theapplication of role play technique. Those speaking aspects which were used as indicator arevocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, fluency, and comprehension.Key words : speaking ability, role play technique, simple past tense

Abstract

ABSTRACTCritical Discourse Analysis (CDA) views that language use is not neutral, that language is ameans for the practice of power and dominance. It can be used to show a good image,manipulate, or influence someone. This study aimed at finding the ideology of political newsin berita2bahasa.com. The critical Discourse Analysis approach by Van Dijk was applied toanalyse the data. The observation method was used to collect the data, qualitative method wasapplied to analyse the data. The result showed that the translator translated the text with adifferent ideology than the source language (SL) by showing a better image of the president ofIndonesia.Keyword: Critical Discourse Analysis, translation, political newsABSTRAKAnalisis Wacana Kritis (AWK) memandang bahwa penggunaan bahasa tidak netral, bahwabahasa adalah sarana untuk praktik kekuasaan dan dominasi. Abstract

This research is entitled "Analysis of Affixation in Pos-Kupang Online News". There are two problems analyzed in this research, namely the form and meaning of affixes contained in Pos-Kupang online news text and language errors contained in Pos-Kupang online news. The purpose of this research is to describe the form and meaning of affixes contained in Pos-Kupang online news and to find out the form of language errors contained in Pos-Kupang news text. The theory used in this research is morphology theory. Data collection in this study was conducted using the listening method and assisted by the free listening technique (SBLC) and continued with the note-taking technique. The data were analyzed using agih method and assisted by direct element division technique (BUL). The results of the analysis are presented with informal methods, followed by descriptive techniques and perspectives. Based on the analysis that has been done on Pos-Kupang online news, the following results are obtained (1) There are three affixes found in Pos-Kupang online news text, namely prefixes, suffixes, and confixes. (2) Several errors are found in Pos-Kupang's online news texts, first, spelling errors consisting of italicization, word writing errors, capitalization errors, and punctuation errors. Second, word choice errors in news writing. Third, sentence structure errors.)
