Abstract

The challenges faced by the world of education such as universities are not only producing graduates who have good intellectuality, mentality, and morality, but also high productivity and independence. Aquaponics-based aquaculture activities are one of the models that can be developed as a pilot project in the development of productivity and independence of the academic community. This community service activity aimed to present a model in the Program Hilirisasi Produktif (PHP) that can be implemented within the University of Bangka Belitung in particular and the academic community at large. This activity was carried out through an analysis of strength, weaknesses, opportunity, and threat, the stages of preparation of facilities and infrastructure for the application of aquaponics-based aquaculture techniques, the stages of program implementation, and the stages of results evaluation. The activities that have been carried out within a period of three months have produced juvenile of catfish, tilapia fish, broodstock of tilapia, and kangkung vegetables (Ipomea reptans Poir). The sustainability of this activity is very important to make aquaponics-based aquaculture become an effort to produce an independent community in the food sector.

Abstract

Pulau Bangka dan Belitung memiliki potensi ikan lokal yang potensial. Salah satunya adalah Osteochilus spilurus yang dikenal sebagai Ikan Cempedik dan bernilai ekonomis penting di pulau Belitung, khususnya Belitung Timur. Universitas Bangka Belitung, Pemerintah daerah Belitung Timur, dan Balai Riset Perikanan Budidaya Air Tawar Bogor telah melakukan berbagai riset terhadap O. spilurus dalam upaya mendomestikasikannya menjadi komoditas akuakultur. Riset perlu didisemenasikan sebagai capaian pengembangan potensi ikan lokal Bangka Belitung sehingga dilakukan forum diskusi online dalam webinar. Webinar dihadiri 206 peserta dari Medan hingga Ambon dan Kupang. Penyampaian materi diikuti dengan diskusi melalui tanya jawab tertulis maupun visual, dan diakhiri kuis untuk mengetahui pemahaman peserta webinar. Antusiasme peserta bertanya dan kemampuan menjawab pertanyaan menjadi tolok ukur bahwa pengetahuan tentang pengembangan potensi ikan lokal telah diterima oleh peserta. Pengetahuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi landasan pengambilan keputusan peserta saat dihadapkan dengan permasalahan dan potensi ikan lokal di daerahnya.

Abstract

Acceleration of wood weathering in the mangrove area is possible with the role of cellulolytic bacteria. Cellulolytic bacteria producing cellulase enzymes are needed by the animal feed and agriculture industries. Mangroves in Muntok Subdistrict undergo a process of adaptation to environmental changes due to tin mining, including microorganisms. Exploration of new species and strains of cellulolytic bacteria in miningaffected mangroves is needed to enrich the collection and its potential use for human needs. This study aims to identify cellulolytic bacteria in mangrove weathered wood in Muntok District, West Bangka Regency through isolation, screening, and biochemical characterization. Three sampling locations, namely Sukal Mangrove, Peltim Mangrove, and Tembelok Mangrove result 22 bacterial isolates with 11 isolates showing the ability of cellulose degradation in qualitative tests using Lugol. The biochemical characterization of bacterial isolates with the greatest cellulose degradation was directed towards Citrobacter freundii and Vibrio alginolyticus in samples of Sukal Mangrove and Actinomyces bovis in isolates from Peltim Mangrove.

Abstract

Disease caused by the bacterium A. hyrophila known as MAS (Motile Aeromonad Septicaemia) decreases survival and growth in Catfish. Phytopharmaca is a potential solution to replace antibiotics. One of the phytopharmaca which has the potential to be effective, inexpensive, safe for humans, and environmentally friendly is avocado (Persea americana) with active compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. The potential for prevention of bacterial diseases with avocado leaf extract on the clinical symptoms of fish in MAS disease needs to be scientifically proven to be applicable to aquaculture economically and environmentally sustainable. This study uses an experimental method with several stages, namely testing LD50, in vitro and in vivo tests. The LD50 concentration of A. hydrophila is at a density of 102 cfu/ml. The filtrate of avocado leaf maceration showed that a clear zone diameter is equivalent to penicillin in the in-vitro test. Fortification of avocado leaf extract on feed is quite effective in preventing MAS disease in the in-vivo test. The fastest of MAS disease clinical symptoms recovery is at a dose of 100 ppt and 300 ppt on the 7th day. The highest Survival Rate (SR) was found at a dose of 100 pp (100%) which was equivalent to negative control and followed by a dose of 200 ppt (73.33%), 300 ppt (66.67%) and positive control (46.67%).

Abstract

AbstrakIkan cempedik (Osteochilus spilurus) menjadi ikan liar sungai bernilai ekonomis tinggi di Belitung Timur sebagai ikan konsumsi. Pengetahuan nilai nutrisi Ikan cempedik diperlukan untuk memberikan informasi manfaat untuk kesehatan manusia dan dasar proses domestikasi. Penelitian terlaksana pada bulan Agustus – November 2016 dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif untuk mengidentifikasi konsumsi dan kesukaan masyarakat, proses penanganan ikan, komposisi proksimat dan kandungan asam amino pada Ikan cempedik. Lebih dari 80% responden di Kecamatan Gantung dan Manggar, Belitung Timur yang mengenal ikan cempedik menyatakan mengkonsumsi dan menyukainya. Penanganan ikan ini diutamakan pada penarikan isi perut untuk mengurangi rasa pahit. Pengolahan didominasi oleh proses penggorengan. Kandungan protein Ikan Cempedik menunjukkan nilai 13,99% pada kondisi segar dan 62,63% pada produk goreng. Asam amino essensial yang teridentifikasi adalah histidin, iso leusin, leusin, lisin, metionin, fenilalanin, treonin, dan valin.Kata kunci: ikan cempedik; Belitung Timur; pahit; proksimat; asam aminoAbstractCempedik fish (Osteochilus spilurus) become high-value river wild fish in East Belitung as consumption fish. Knowledge of the nutritional value of Cempedik Fish is needed to provide information on benefits for human health and the basis of the domestication process. The research was carried out in August - November 2016 with a qualitative and quantitative descriptive method to identify the consumption and preferences of the people, the process of handling fish, the proximate composition and amino acid content of Cempedik Fish. More than 80% of respondents in Gantung and Manggar Subdistricts, East Belitung who know Cempedik Fish say they consume and like it. The handling of this fish takes precedence over the withdrawal of the stomach contents to reduce the bitter taste. Processing is dominated by the frying process. The protein content of Cempedik Fish shows a value of 13.99% in fresh conditions and 62.63% in fried products. The essential amino acids identified are histidine, ISO leucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, and valine.Keywords: cempedik fish; East Belitung; bitter; proximate; amino acid

Abstract

Fish Cempedik has become a freshwater entity in East Belitung District. The abundance of Cempedik is almost used by people in rainy season, by catching activity in downstream of Lintang River and Lenggang River that disembogue in Bendungan Pice. The actvity, however, is not done in dry season caused Fish Cempedik is very difficult to found there. This research aim is to exlore Fish Cempedik’s existence by study of biology and ethnobiology approach, as a development activity of freshwater potential in East Belitung District, especially Fish Cempedik. The results show Fish Cempedik has morphology similarities that indicate group of Family Cyprinidae, there is a round dark spot on its caudal peduncle, silver skin, forked shape caudal fin, two barbels on each side of mouth, 1,8-3,6 g in weight, total lenght 5,13-6,36 cm, standard lenght 3,89-5,07 cm, head lenght 0,69-1,16 cm, head height 0,47-0,9 cm, body height 0,83-1,46 cm, caudal peduncle height 0,31-0,78 cm, caudal peduncle length 0,59-0,95 cm, body wide 0,42-0,9 cm, 21 caudal spines, 12 dorsal spines, 6 anal spines, and 9 ventral spines on each side. In fish catching, people use bubu or sero, many arrested during the rainy season, and in the dry season are more common in the upstream than downstream.

Abstract

Kecalokis recognized as a typical shrimp sauce traditionally produced by the Malay inhabitants in Bangka Island and Palembang, Southern region of Sumatra. Comparing to terasi, the most common Indonesian fermented shrimp, the information on kecalokhas rarely been reported. This study aimed to obtain the characteristics of both the geographical origin of kecalokproduct from Bangka and Palembang. A descriptive analysis was used to observe the profiles of both kecalokproducts including sensory, microbiology, proximate, and physical analysis. Results showed that kecalokfrom both locations had similar characteristics, i.e. a distinctive taste and aroma, high nutrition value, and containing some useful bacteria (LAB) which have beneficial role in human body. Therefore, kecalokwill be a prospective functional based-indigenous food in Indonesia.

Abstract

Ikan Cempedik menjadi salah satu entitas perikanan air tawar di Kabupaten Belitung Timur. Masyarakat banyak memanfaatkan kelimpahan ikan ini pada musim penghujan melalui aktivitas penangkapan di Bendungan Pice. Namun hal ini tidak terjadi pada musim kemarau dikarenakan Ikan Cempedik sangat sulit ditemukan di bendungan tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi Ikan Cempedik melalui pendekatan etnozoologi sebagai upaya untuk mengembangkan potensi ikan air tawar di Kabupaten Belitung Timur, khususnya Ikan Cempedik serta mempertahankan keberadaan Ikan Cempedik dari eksploitasi berlebihan. Cara penangkapan Ikan Cempedik masih menggunakan peralatan tradisional dengan sistem menjebak yang dimodifikasi yaitu bubu dan sero yang sebelumnya berbahan bambu digantikan dengan waring sebagai penutup rangka. Mulut sero ditempatkan berlawanan arah dengan arus sungai. Sementara penangkapan di Bendungan Pice menggunakan jaring pengumpul untuk mengambil Ikan Cempedik yang terbawa arus dan berloncatan. Masyarakat memiliki pemahaman terhadap Ikan Cempedik dengan menempatkan posisi dan lokasi yang sesuai dengan kebiasaan Ikan Cempedik bermigrasi pada awal musim penghujan. Waktu penangkapan Ikan Cempedik terbanyak pada 7 sampai 10 hari pertama musim penghujan karena munculnya arus sungai pada waktu tersebut. Ikan Cempedik dipasarkan pada pasar lokal dengan harga Rp.10.000 per calong (Rp. 40.000/kg). Penangkapan Ikan Cempedik dengan sero waring menjadikan tangkapan ikan tidak selektif terutama pada ukuran ikan, sehingga berpotensi mengganggu populasi pada habitat asli jika terjadi penangkapan pada ikan berukuran kecil. Potensi pasar lokal dan habitat alamiah Sungai Lenggang perlu dikembangkan budidaya Ikan Cempedik agar berkelanjutan dan tidak mengandalkan tangkapan alam di masa mendatang.

Abstract

Aquaponic technology is a bio-integrated farming system using resirculation of water from aquaculture to the plants and vice versa . It is a simple technology can be used to cultivate nonproductive land, even a narrow land to produce double production, namely fishes and plants. A basic principle from this technology is an application of zero waste aquaculture through water resirculation process contains fisheries organic waste that can be used as a nutrition for plants upon it. This research purposed to analyze the content of aquatic nitrogen waste gained from catfish aquaculture, know about significant influence of aquaponic to the ability of nitrogen waste reduction, and analyze the reduction ability of charcoal chaff and sawdust as a type planting from aquaponic. Based on the block random design with F-test gained that the differences of protein concentration on feed and types of planting media didn’t give a significant influence to the reduction of nitrogen waste, in this case ammonia and nitrit. But manually can be seen that charcoal chaff more effective in reducting ammonia and nitrit than sawdust.

Abstract

Ikan koi merupakan jenis ikan hias yang memiliki warna dan bentuk tubuh yang menarik. Salah satunya varietas kohaku yang memiliki warna putih dan merah dianggap berkualitas jika warna merahnya cerah. Untuk meningkatkan kecerahan warna ikan koi dapat dilakukan melalui pemberian pakan buatan dengan kombinasi bahan yang mengandung karotenoid seperti bunga marigold dan udang rebon. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak bunga marigold dan udang rebon pada pakan terhadap kecerahan warna ikan koi. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei sampai Juni 2015 di Laboratorium Manajemen Sumberdaya Perikanan Fakultas Pertanian, Perikanan dan Biologi, Universitas Bangka Belitung. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan penambahan pakan dengan kombinasi ekstrak bunga marigold dan udang rebon masing- masing pada konsentrasi yang berbeda dan 3 ulangan. Kelima perlakuan tersebut pakan tanpa penambahan bahan sebagai kontrol, (A) Pakan dengan 5% ekstrak bunga marigold + 5% udang rebon, (B) Pakan dengan 5% ekstrak bunga marigold + 15% udang rebon, (C) Pakan dengan 5% ekstrak bunga marigold + 25% udang rebon, dan (D) Pakan dengan 5% ekstrak bunga marigold + 35% udang rebon. Parameter yang diamati adalah nilai chroma (warna) yang diukur menggunakan color picker sebagai data utama sedangkan pertumbuhan ikan sebagai data penunjang. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penambahan ekstrak bunga marigold dan udang rebon memberikan pengaruh terhadap peningkatan warna dan pertumbuhan ikan koi. Perlakuan terbaik penambahan ekstrak bunga marigold 5% dan udang rebon sebanyak 35% dan total pakan buatan memberikan peningkatan kualitas warna pada perlakuan D nilai chroma sebesar 255.
