Abstract

Student activity in solving mathematical problems is an important thing that must be continuously improved in learning mathematics. For increase activity solving problem needed ability good metacognition. The purpose of this study is to describe the level of metacognition of students in solving HOTS questions on the material comparison of class VII SMPN 3 Mataram . This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive type involving 30 students as subjects. Data collection was carried out using tests , interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that students' metacognition is at the level of tacit use . In general, students at this level have not been able to solve HOTS type questions properly.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between Adversity Quotient (AQ) and mathematical logical intelligence on the mathematics learning outcomes of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Terara in academic year 2022/2023 either partially or simultaneously. This research is a quantitative research with ex-post facto research methods. The population of this study was 278 class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Terara for the 2022/2023 academic year. The sample used was 31 people who were determined using the cluster random sampling technique. The instrument in this study used an Adversity Quotient (AQ) questionnaire, a mathematical logical intelligence test and a mathematics learning achievement test in the form of multiple choice questions. The results of the study show that 1) there was a positive and significant relationship with the Adversity Quotient (AQ) on the mathematics learning outcomes of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Terara for the 2022/2023 academic year with a contribution of 28,6%; 2) there was a positive and significant relationship between mathematical logical intelligence and mathematics learning outcomes of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Terara for the 2022/2023 academic year with a contribution of 35,4%; 3) there was a jointly positive and significant relationship between Adversity Quotient (AQ) and mathematical logical intelligence on the mathematics learning outcomes of the eighthgrade students of SMP Negeri 1 Terara for the 2022/2023 academic year with a contribution of 42,2%.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa berdasarkan tahapan Polya dalam menyelesaikan soal materi persamaan dan pertidaksamaan linear satu variabel ditinjau dari kecerdasan logis matematis. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian yaitu 6 siswa kelas VII-C SMPN 2 Bayan tahun ajaran 2023/2024 yang terdiri dari 2 siswa kategori tinggi, 2 siswa kategori sedang, dan 2 siswa kategori rendah. Tehnik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan tes dan wawancara. Tehnik analisis data dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, serta kesimpulan dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian ini diperoleh (i) siswa dengan kecerdasan logis matematis tinggi dapat melalui semua tahap yaitu memahami masalah, menyusun rencana, melaksanakan rencana, dan memeriksa kembali. (ii) siswa dengan kecerdasan logis matematis sedang hanya dapat melalui tiga tahapan indikator yaitu memahami masalah, menyusun rencana, dan melaksanakan rencana tetapi tidak bisa melalui tahap memeriksa kembali. (iii) siswa dengan kecerdasan logis matematis rendah hanya melalui tahap memahami masalah tetapi belum bisa melalui tahap menyusun rencana, melaksanakan rencana, dan memeriksa kembali. Diharapkan agar siswa lebih banyak melatih dan membiasakan diri mengerjakan soal-soal pemecahan masalah serta soal-soal kecerdasan logis matematis.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe how students make errors when solving word problems in social arithmetic using Polya's theory and to describe the factors causing students' errors in solving social arithmetic word problems for eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Lingsar. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using Polya's theory as the method. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, resulting in the selection of 22 students from class VIII-1. Data collection methods included providing essay tests and interviews on social arithmetic topics. The researcher selected two out of five predetermined criteria as the research subjects. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing stages.The research findings indicate that students make errors in the category of very high errors at each stage of Polya, which includes understanding the problem, planning, execution, and reviewing. In the high error category, students have not fully understood the second and third stages, which are planning and execution. In the category of moderate errors, students have not fully understood the first and third stages, which are understanding the problem and execution. Students with very low error levels can successfully follow each of Polya's steps. Overall, the students' errors in solving social arithmetic word problems fall into the very high error category. The majority of students do not state what is known and what is asked, struggle with planning and execution, make calculation mistakes, and do not know how to review their obtained results.
