Abstract

This research aims to: identify the factors that affect corn’s farming, analyze the efficiency of corn production and know the advantages of corn’s farming in East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency of South Sumatera.  This research was located in Bunga Mayang and Jayapura Subdistrict  of East Ogan Komering Ulu Regency.  The Farmer respondets were drawn by simple random sampling.  The data was analyzed by  Cobb-Douglas production function, production analysis by using value of NPMxi/Pxi and farmer profit analysis.  The results showed that production of maize farming in the District of East OKU in the year of 2012-2013 were affected by land area (X1), seeds(X2) and labor(X5). Technically, the use of inputs in corn farming in the study site was in the region I (increasing returns to scale); thus, it was considered as inefficient use of inputs. Corn farming in the District of East OKU was profitable in which R/C >1 and the revenue generated was Rp17,014,306.00/hectare. Key words :corn, efficiency, production, production efficiency

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate financial banana farming with the technology of tissue culture and plantlets the shoot bananas and analyze investment risk with NPV at risk. The research was carried out in the South Lampung Regency Ketapang Subdistrict, Penegahan, Bakauheni, Kalianda, Raja Basa, Katibung, and Palas. The choice of location because the districts and villages of the farmers receiving the aid program the banana tissue culture seedlings of PUPKP (Program Unggulan Pengembangan Komoditas Pisang). The number of respondents was 40 farmers’ tissue culture and plantlets the shoot farmers 42. To answer the first objective financial analysis, we calculated NVP, IRR, Gross BC, Payback Period and sensitivity, whereas the second purpose was analyzed bycalculating NVP at risk. The results showed that banana farming in South Lampung Regency was financially viable, the value of NPV was Rp11,220,349.21; IRR 32.14percent; Gross BC ratio 1.24 and Payback Period was2 year 7 months for farming of banana tissue culture, while on the farming of banana shoots puppies the value of NPV was Rp25,874,245.92; IRR  98.25percent, Gross BC  1.84 and Payback Period was 1year 7months. Analysis of financial investment risks banana tissue culture seedlings and saplings shoot based on the investment indicators NVP method at risk was considered worthy, in which investment opportunities with decent enough small and big profit opportunities.Key words: banana, financial analysis, NVP at risk, tissue culture

Abstract

This study aimed firstly to analyze the management of household food stocks and secondly to analyze the various factors affecting household food stocks for rice farmers. All rice farmers were members of the food barn in Ambarawa Sub-district, Pringsewu District. The samples were selected by simple random sampling consisting of 7 granaries with a total of 70 members. The data were collected from January to February 2023. To obtain the first objective, the data were analyzed by using the calculation of food stocks referring to the Chafid equation formula (2017), i.e. the amount of food inventory was subtracted by its sale quantity and its utilization. To obtain the second objective, the data were analyzed by using the multiple linear regression. The results showed that the food stocks of rice farmers who were members of the food barn were 573 kg of MDG in the first season and 450 kg of MDG in the second season, which were not an ideal amount for food stock. This was because the ideal amounts of needs were 586.93 kg of MDG for the first season and 591.51 kg of MDG for the second season. Some of the factors affecting the food stock of the rice farming households incorporated in food barns were land area and household income. Key words: regression analysis, sale delay analysis, stocks, storage.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze (1) the financial feasibility and (2) the sensitivity of coffee farming. The research was conducted in the villages of Karang Sari and Sidomulyo, Air Naningan Subdistrict, Tanggamus Regency, using a survey method. The respondents consisted of 41 certified farmers and 41 non-certified farmers. Data collection was carried out from May to June 2022. The analysis used includes financial metrics (NPV, Gross B/C, Net B/C, IRR, dan PP). Sensitivity analysis was conducted using various scenarios until one of the financial criteria was deemed unfeasible. The results of the study indicate that (1) both certified and non-certified coffee farming are feasible and profitable for development, and (2) sensitivity of certified farmers indicates a maximum limit of cost increase by 32.00 percent (monoculture coffee) and by 57.00 percent (polyculture coffee), as well as a decrease in coffee production by 25.00 percent (monoculture) and by 43.00 percent (polyculture). Meanwhile, non-certified have a maximum limit of cost increase by 4.00 percent (monoculture coffee) and by 24.00 percent (polyculture coffee), with a decrease in coffee production by 4.00 percent (monoculture) and by 23.00 percent (polyculture). When below these values, both certified and non-certified farmers are feasible and profitable for development.

Abstract

Increasing seed productivity by enhancing the technical efficiency of seed breeding has to be prioritized to achieve the availability of staple food. This study examines the technical, allocative, and economic efficiency and the factors affecting the technical inefficiency of seed breeding farming. This research was conducted by collecting data from 3 groups of farmers, consisting of 44 total respondents in Bumi Ratu Nuban Sub-District, Central Lampung Regency. The data was analyzed using the Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) with production and dual cost function approach. The empirical result shows that seed breeding is technically (ET = 0.7412) and allocative efficient (AE = 0.7511), contrary to its economic efficiency (EE = 0.4949). This study indicates that access to credit, the educational level, and farmers' age influence technical inefficiency. The paper also finds that the profit of farming can be maximized by increasing efficiency.
