This study aims to examine the significance of two factors derived from the family towards the emergence of disruptive behavior that are the family expressed emotion and perceived of parentchild relationships. There are 237 teenagers was participated in this study (aged 15-18 years old) who lived with their parent obtained from the scaling of SDQ, LEE and PACQ. The result of the regression indicated the two predictors explained 5,3% of variance (adjusted R2 = .053, F(3.235) = .013, p<.05). The implications of this study are the family expressed emotion and perceived of parent-child relationships are two factors that can contributed to the emergence of disruptive behavior symptoms in adolescent, although if analyzed separately perceived of parent-child relationships towards a mother has no effect.

Abstract

Hypertension is one type of disease that is usually experienced by adults, where arteries have excessive pressure, which is above 140 mm Hg for systolic and diastolic 90 mm Hg. Hypertension is not only a physical experience, but also needs to be understood as a psychological and social experience. Health is a social problem because it is related to how a person finances his health and access appropriate health facilities. The purpose of this study was to obtain psychosocial dynamics in the experience of hypertension in patients with low socioeconomic status. This study used a qualitative method with an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach through semi-structured interviews. Three participants involved were female, aged 30 to 45 years, and had more than one year suffered from hypertension. This study found six superordinate themes that focused on perceptions of causes, perceptions of hypertension, unpleasant feeling, social resources, improvement efforts, and health development.

Abstract

This study discusses the occurrence of possession disorders in Makassar. The method used is a qualitative grounded theory method with data collection using semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions. The participants were three women, each of whom had experienced at least two possession disorders. The criteria for possession disorder refer to PPDGJ III. The results indicated that parenting, the role of the father figure, and the relationship with the mother, as well as the transmission of abusive religious beliefs were more likely the causes of possession disorders in the Makassar/Indonesian context. The abuse experienced is more related to parenting patterns than physical or sexual abuse as appears in the Western literature. Future research that deepens parenting themes and religious beliefs is important to understand the occurrence of other psychopathologies besides possession disorders.
