Abstract

Recent development of marine tourism in Penuktukan Village, Sub district Tejakula of the Buleleng Regency in Bali has been contributed to the coral reef ecosystem. The aim of the research was to determine the coral reefs coverage, coral reef and fishes diversity  inPenuktukan Villages, Sub district Tejakula of the Buleleng Regency. Result of the research confirms that coral reef coverage in Penuktukan was varied from 53 to 56%, indicates human impact to coral reefs ecosystems. The coverage level can be influenced by tourist activities.Based on the observation it is clear that Coral Foliose types were dominant.Diversity index (H’) of coral reefs ranging from 1.754 to 1.814; while the evenness index (E) was ranging from 0.8435 to 0.9468. The observed fish was less than 25 individual.These fishes taxonomically belong to Serranidae,  Lutjanidae,  Letherinidae, Caesionidae, Scaridae, Haemulidae and  Chaetonodae.It was lowest compared to the standard for population in healthy water. The implementation of marine based tourism in Penuktukan Village should be controlled through visitor management and coral reef ecosystem conservation.Keywords: Bali, coral reefs, marine tourism.

Abstract

Ecotourism development can not be separated from the social aspects of the people living around the tourist sites. One indicator that a tourist location is said to be ecotourism-based is the participation of community in the activities of management. This study aims to determine the effect of variables that exist on the level of community participation in the management of mangrove areas Cengkrong using Partial Least Square (PLS) method. The variables used in this study are: community characteristics, perceptions, norms, patterns of social relationships, and trust. From the research, the variables that have a dominant influence on the level of participation in the management of mangrove Cengkrong is variable of perceptions, norms, and trusts with the value of the effect size, respectively for 0.098, 0.204, and 0.431. While variable of trust has most influence to the coefficient path of community participation with a value of 0.64.Keywords: Ecotourism, Factors of Participation, Level of Participation, Partial Least Square (PLS).

Abstract

Tourism activity in Trisula waterfall (locally called Coban Trisula) is growing significantly. The environmental management is important to perform the sustainable use of waterfall as tourism attraction. The aim of the research is to identify the ecosystem services of Trisula waterfall. In this study, three indices were calculated, namely Environmental Services Index, Hemeroby Index, and Naturalness index. This study found that the use of lands and natural resources in Trisula waterfall was low compared the upper and lower area. Lower and upper area was used for intensive agriculture and daily needs by local community. Those activities were influencing the environmental services of Trisula waterfall. Management towards sustainable use of Coban Trisula area was required. It is also important and should be able to promote security and satisfaction aspects for tourist. Anthropogenic activities such as plantation activities should be controlled by a persuasive approach to minimize disruption to the ecosystem. There are needs for environmental management to ensure the sustainability use of waterfall resources and its surrounding area.Keywords: sustainable tourism, waterfall management, water conservation.

Abstract

Ecotourism has a very important role in increasing the community income, cultural preservation, and environmental conservation efforts at a tourist attraction. This study aims to create the ecotourism development strategy in Pelawan Forest by involving local communities. Data collection techniques in this study using distributing questionnaires to tourists. Data were analyzed using a Likert scale analysis, IFAS/EFAS analysis, SWOT analysis to formulate ecotourism development strategy viewed factors internal and external as well Grand strategy matrix. The results research using Likert scale showed that the various attractions i.e. the area that is still awake, unique flora and fauna, the existence of alternative tourism can become a tourist attraction potential. Meanwhile, the potential demand for tourism is mostly students and employees. Ecotourism development of Pelawan Forest based on SWOT analysis can be offered by involving local communities and stakeholders in support of sustainable tourism. The position of the Grand Strategy Matrix lies in the ordinate quadrant 2, is characterized by a weak competitive position in fast growing market. Therefore, it is necessary to take counteractive action so that the ability to compete effectively is stronger and can find its space in a more competitive environment, thus becoming a sustainable ecotourism.Keywords:  Development strategy, ecotourism, Pelawan Forest.

Abstract

Recent rapid grow of culinary tourism has significant potential contribution to enhancing biodiversity conservation especially biodiversity of local plant species for local food and food preparation tradition in local community. Ethnic food has been explored as one of the indigenous resources for community-based tourism, in which it is important in community development and biodiversity conservation. The aim of the study was to describe the involvement of plant in local cuisine and the concept of ethno-culinary tourism products development. The research was based on ethno-botanical study through observation and interviews with local community and tourism stakeholder in Kemiren Village, Banyuwangi. This study found that there was 108 ethnic food menu in Kemiren Village. There are 67 species of 35 plant family were used in local cuisine. Kemiren Village has been identified rich in term of traditional culinary which are able to be developed as attractive cuisine in culinary tourism.Keywords: culinary tourism, ethnicfood, Kemiren Village.

Abstract

The contribution of citizen scientist in conservation field has been recognized important, but it is few studied in Indonesia. Citizen Science especially important in bird conservation. The aims of the research is to assess the citizen scientist preference in site selection and its relationship to the success to complete observer’s checklist in Java Island. This study confirmed that citizen sciences is effective in collecting field data of birds. It is especially useful to record common birds, birds with high population number, and general birds. Special birds and birds in small population seems to be rarely reported by citizen scientist. Lowest preferred location often has limitation of accessibility. Citizen scientist has more preference to select sites for bird observation in wild habitat.Keywords: Birds conservation, conservation,  public participation, Burungnesia.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to explore the value of home gardens at Abui community in Takpala Village, Alor Island,  a basis rural of rural tourism development. The value of home gardens was assessed in the perspective local people culture and perspectives. Therefore, ethnobotanical assessment using Important Cultural Value (ICS) index was implemented. Data was collected through field observation and interviews to local community. Survey was done in 15 house in Takpala settlements by identifying plant species in home gardens area. Interviews were performed to generate information regarding flora benefits in the daily life of local people in Takpala. Result of the study shows that homegarden has an important role among Abui community, especially in cultivating numerous plant species for daily life. Home garden has its potentiality to introduced as part of the tourism development attraction in Takpala Village.Keywords: conservation, economic plant, rural tourism, Timor home garden.

Abstract

COVID-19 outbreak has been influenced tourism sectors in Indonesia. Many economic activity related to tourism industry was drop and many tourism worker loss jobs. In the absent of tourism activity, the natural ecosystem has opportunities to restore the degraded system caused by intensive use of tourist visitation. Traveling responsible to pandemic disease spread through the tourist movement and human physical contact. New tourism should be able to promote responsible travels through the management of visitor, reduce mass tourism and create high tourism product which are able to support economic benefits to local community, socio-cultural aspect preservation, and environmental conservation. The quality is important rather than quantity or the number of tourist. COVID-19 pandemic provides significant lesson learned for new tourism implementation in Indonesia.

Abstract

The research aimed to identify the local community perception in Krisik Village in Blitar Regency as a fundamental aspect of rural tourism planning and development. Three points were accepted as basic principles in rural tourism development, namely acceptance of rural tourism as an alternative to rural economic machine growth, promoting indigenous knowledge as a philosophy and value of rural tourism program implementation, and strengthening community-based tourism implementation in rural tourism programs Krisik Villages. Community involvement was a crucial issue in rural tourism planning and development.  In the limitation of human resources, the assistance of the university to support and increase human resources capacity in rural tourism development was important.Keywords: Ecotourism, community perception, tourism planning, tourism development

Abstract

This study aimed to assess the ethnobotany of home gardens and lad-use units in Gili Iyang Island, Sumenep Regency.  It is expected for future strategic issues, such as global warming mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and food security. This study used an observational method with informal and semi-structured interviews with an indigenous community in Gili Iyang that has a homegarden or yard and uses the plants within for their daily life. Data were analysed by using the Used Values (UVs) and Index of Cultural Significance (ICS). The results showed that there were 63 types of plants located in two places (in the land unit and the homegarden). The community of Gili Iyang widely used the plant of Zea mays L. as the staple food (UVs=1.0), Borrasus flabellifer L. that produce sap (UVs = 0.9), and Lannea coromandelica (Houtt.) Merr.t) for land fence and animal food (UVs 0.9). In the area of the house yard, several plants are often used by the people of Gili Iyang, including the Mangifera indica L for its fruit (UVs=0.8), Piper betle L. for its medicinal use (UVs=0.7), and Manilkara zapota (L.) P. Royen for its fuitr (UVs=0.7). The three-highest ICs were Cocos Nucifera L, Borrasus flabellifer L., and Zea mays L for 162, 136, and 105, respectively, due to their multipurpose uses. Taniyan Lanjheng house and Pamengkang (homegarden) as local custom need to be conserved to support the sustainable cultural and plant conservation effort in Gili Iyang.
