Abstract

Science and technology, which continue to experience development in education at the school level, raise demands and improvements in the learning process. In the 21st century, critical and creative thinking skills are needed for students. Therefore, interactive learning media are developed to make students more active and can make improvements to students' critical and creative thinking skills. The development of interactive learning media aims to create interactive learning media based on critical and creative thinking skills on valid and practical circular motion material. This study used the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The validation test resulted in the developed interactive learning media obtained a result of 0.78 with a reasonably valid category. The validation results showed that the interactive learning media was not yet valid, so it needed to be revised based on the validator's suggestions to make the product more valid. After revision, the product was declared usable. The results of the practicality test conducted on high school physics teachers in Padang obtained 91% results, indicating that interactive learning media is practical to use. Based on the results of the validation test and practicality test, interactive learning media based on critical and creative thinking skills in circular motion material is declared valid and practical.

Abstract

The importance of the ability to think critically and creatively in the learning process, especially in physics, is a challenge for educators to continue to improve the quality of learning, both in implementing the learning process and developing appropriate learning resources. This study aims to develop valid interactive learning media with the help of the Lectora Inspire application to improve the critical and creative thinking skills of high school students, especially in straight and parabolic motion material. The research design used the ADDIE model, including the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This research is being developed through validation activities from three validators from the Padang State University physics department. The instrument for collecting data was an interactive learning media assessment sheet validated by experts. The subjects of this study were experts from the physics department lecturer Padang State University. The data analysis technique used Aiken's validity index. The validation results of learning media product development are in a very valid category, with an average value of 0.816. This indicates that interactive learning media that integrates critical and creative thinking skills with the help of the Lectora Inspire application have a very valid category. This validity component shows the feasibility of the product in material substance, audio-visual communication display, learning design, software utilization, assessment of critical thinking skills, and assessment of creative thinking skills.

Abstract

The study fulfils the gap in teachers' scientific paper writing skills, which benefits both the academic community and pupils. Teachers' competence can be improved so that they can engage in evidence-based practices, contribute to academics, and deliver engaging educational experiences that develop critical thinking in their pupils. Scientific paper writing training is critical for developing high school teachers' professional competency. The purpose of this study was to look into the efficiency of such training in improving teacher abilities and knowledge. A quantitative descriptive method was employed in the study to evaluate the efficiency of a scientific paper writing training programme for high school teachers. Data was gathered by assessing the quality of the teachers' papers using a quality assessment form. The data was analysed using statistical procedures such as the t-test and N-Gain analysis. The t-test compared pre- and post-treatment scores, while the N-Gain analysis assessed the training's effectiveness. These methodologies aided in determining the program's impact on teachers' writing skills and quantifying the level of development in their scientific paper writing competence. These data indicate the training program's effectiveness in improving teachers' understanding and skills in scientific paper writing. Training in scientific paper writing improves high school teachers' professional competency by increasing their understanding of article components, scholarly practices, and writing abilities. It emphasizes the importance of continuing professional growth and filling gaps in critical thinking and interdisciplinary writing.

Abstract

Students' understanding of several topics in physics is still low. The teachers only focus on completing curriculum targets without considering their student's understanding and most of them have misconceptions. The study aimed to identify students' misconceptions of physics concepts using the five-tier diagnostic test. Data was collected once using a descriptive-quantitative method. The research sample consisted of 18 students from one of the high schools in West Sumatra. A total of 17 questions was used to identify students' understanding of Newton's law of gravitation. The results showed that students had misconceptions as follows: gravitational attraction is only caused by planets; there is no gravitational force in space, and the direction of the gravitational force is determined by the direction of the gravitational attraction by some objects; two objects have different gravitational force strengths; all planets revolve around one another, the orbit of the solar system is perfectly circular, the shape of the earth is round, and the strength of the gravitational field is affected by the mass of the object. In conclusion, the highest percentage of misconceptions occurs in the influence of the gravitational field strength, which was 23%.
