Abstract

Technology development allows every individuals to learn from various learning sources and media especially during the COVID-19 pandemic that makes students have to study online from home. However, the implementation of online learning considered less able to improve students‟ 21 century skills especially critical thinking and problem solving skill. One of the learning models that can develop students‟ 21st century skills is PBL. The objectives of this research and development are (1) to produce instructional design which are syllabus, lesson plan, student‟s worksheet, assessment sheets, and podcast using PBL model and (2) to improve students‟ critical thinking and problem solving skill through the implementation of instructional design that have been prepared. The method of this research is Research and Development (R&D) with ADDIE model. The subject are students of XI MIPA 1 SMAN 1 Turen, Malang, East Java. Validation test result from the validators stated that the product has average score of 95.6% with very valid category. Practicality test result based on learning syntax implementation and students‟ response questionnaire consecutively has average score of 93% and 82% with very practical category. Effectiveness test gained from pretest, posttest, and calculation of N-gain has score of 0,3 for problem solving skills and 0,4 for critical thinking skills with moderate category. It can be concluded that (1) the instructional design have very valid and practical category to be implemented on biology learning process, and (2) students‟ critical thinking and problem solving skill improved after the implementation of the instructional design. Keywords: critical thinking, PBL, podcast, problem solving

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the validity and practicality of the EMKONTAN model to increase creativity, collaborative skills and environmental literacy of prospective biology teachers. The method used is descriptive research through observation of the implementation of the EMKONTAN model in learning practice. Observation of the implementation was carried out by involving five learning observers. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2020/2021 academic year at IKIP Budi Utomo Malang and FKIP University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Involving 80 second semester students through total sampling. The validity aspects studied include content validity, face validity and construct validity. Content validity includes needs analysis and conformity with current knowledge. Face validity consists of the correctness of concepts, principles of measurement, instrument format and language. Construct validity includes rationality of the models, theoretical and empirical support, planning and implementation components of the model, learning environment, assessment and evaluation. While the practicality of the model is obtained from the results of observing the implementation of learning through the application of the EMKONTAN syntax which includes socialization and observation of environmental problems, identification and analysis of environmental problems, action plans for solving environmental problems and integration into conservation, actions for solving environmental problems and integration of conservation, monitoring and evaluating processes and the results of the conservation, monitoring and evaluating processes and the results of the action to solve environmental problems and the integration of KSDA, follow-up plans into PKM based on environmental problems and KSDA. The results of the validity of the EMKONTAN model indicate that the model has content, construct, and facial validity with an average value of <3.7 in the very good category that meet the feasibility to be applied in the learning process. In addition, the results of the practicality of the EMKONTAN model include the implementation of each syntax with an average value of <3.6 in the very good category, student activities with an average value of <85% in the very active category, and the obstacles found, namely the existence of an appropriate alternative solution. Keywords: EMKONTAN model, validity, practicality, creativity, collaborative skills, environmental literacy

Abstract

The globe is currently in the twenty-first century. The 21st century requires 4C (Critical Thinking, Communication, Creative Thinking, and Collaboration) abilities, as well as scientific work. In an effort to prepare students for the difficulties of the twenty-first century, the Indonesian government developed the 2013 curriculum via a scientific method. Inquiry in line with the 2013 curriculum. Due to the pandemic Covid-19, educational activities must be conducted online. Online education necessitates creativity in learning activities. Podcasts may be utilized as a kind of educational material that can be accessed from any location and at any time. The objectives of this research and development are to: (1) design and develop plant diversity-based inquiry-based podcasts and Google Classroom; and (2) influence the scientific work abilities and critical thinking of class X students at Malang's State Senior High School 8. (SMAN 8 Malang). The improvement of student abilities may be determined by comparing the pretest value to the posttest value using n-gain. Addie from Branch was utilized as the development model. Instruments for data collection include validation sheets, questionnaires designed to assess learning, student response surveys, and pretest and posttest questions. The research was performed at Malang's State Senior High School 8 (SMAN 8 Malang), using students from class X MIA-4 as subjects. The validation results for the design and learning tools generated are 82.4 valid categories, 89 and 82.3 highly practical categories, and 0.06 for the efficacy of scientific work students' skills 0, 2 and critical thinking. Keywords: Draft learning, guided inquiry, scientific work, critical thinking

Abstract

This research was conducted in order to determine composition, diversity, eveness, richness, important value index of springtail, and corellation between abiotic environment factor (temperature, pH and moisture) and diversity of springtail. Sampling was done using nilon sieve and pitfall trap, and this research was conducted in April-June 2014 in Tulungrejo village, Batu city. The result from this research, there are 11 species, 10 generas and 5 families of springtail. Diversity index of springtail both using nilon sieve and pitfall trap in apple plantation catagorized medium diversity. The result of important index value analyze showed that Entomobrya multifasciata has highest value. Based on regression analysis, abiotic factor has significant influence on diversity index of infauna.

Abstract

Research activities have been studied extensively to improve the quality of learning, especially in higher education. This research aims to explore the mastery of the term of research ( TR or IR ) and research skills (RS or KR) of toward of grade point average (GPA or IPK). This research uses a quantitative approach to the object of students in natural science education program a number of 67 people who follow biotechnology courses academic year 2017/2018. Data collection with tests and aggregation of documentation. Data analysis technique is done by quantitative descriptive analysis. The decision indicates that the exact number of IR is 66.0 (easy category) and KS is 65.8 (short category). The result of correlation analysis shows ???????????????????????? = 6,147˃ 3,140 = ???????????????????????? = (0,05;2;64) or in other words there a relationship of IR and KR collectively to GPA. This study concludes that there is a significant correlation between IR and KR guards in the same period as the GPA. Based on the investigation, it is expected to provide benefits as one of the considerations for the selection and determination of learning mods related to learning. It is expected to be useful as a consideration for the selection and determination of study-related modes for improvement.

Abstract

Information Literacy (IL) and Science Process Skills (SPS) have been widely examined to enhance the quality of learning, especially in higher education, in which information technology has become the basis of human life. This research aims to explore the relationship between IL and SPS to the grade point average (GPA) of pre-service science student. Determination of samples using a typical case sampling is 278 students from 329 active students in the program at S1-Science Education, Surabaya State University (UNESA). This research uses quantitative approaches. The source of data is a test result of IL and SPS towards a GPA in the odd 2017/2018 semester. The data were analyzed using the Minitab 16 program. The results of the data analysis showed that   = 26,69 ˃ 3,03 =   = (0,05;2;275) or in other words support data to reject   with confidence level 95%. This investigation concludes that there is a significant relationship between variable information literacy and science process skills together against the grade point average. The results of the research are expected to be one of the considerations in choosing and determining the right learning of science teachers,
